TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A Terre Haute mother facing charges in connection with the death of her three-month-old made an initial court appearance Monday.
Police say that Tabetha Smith took her baby boy to Regional Hospital because he was having breathing difficulty.
The infant later died.
Autopsy results show that the child required a feeding tube and that it was removed and never replaced.
The three-month-old died from severe dehydration.
The feeding tube was required due to multiple medical issues.
Smith is due back in court Thursday.
