SPENCER, Ind.—The Indiana Department of Transportation is planning excavation operations at the State Road 46-U.S. Highway 231/S.R. 67 on the east side of Spencer to start on Friday (APRIL 27). Beginning at 4 a.m., traffic at the Fletcher-Morgan Street intersection will be restricted while contracted crews install a storm sewer line and laterals.
Southbound U.S. 231/S.R. 67 traffic will turn right onto westbound S.R. 46’s right lane. INDOT expects this alteration to continue until 6 p.m.
Flaggers will shift northbound U.S. 231/S.R. 67 traffic to the southbound side—away from the excavation site. This condition should remain in effect until 6 a.m.
Westbound S.R. 46 traffic will continue along the existing shift in the eastbound lane.
Eastbound S.R. 46 traffic will continue to use the existing Franklin Street detour.
Two-way traffic on S.R. 46 between CVS and Montgomery Street is unaffected.
Milestone is the state’s contractor for this $8 million S.R. 46 reconstruction project between Fairview Avenue and the west-side U.S. 231/S.R. 67 split. In addition to full-depth pavement replacement, the project includes installation of new storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water mains and laterals along with ADA-compliant curb ramps, sidewalks and defined driveway cuts.
