VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputies were called out around 1:30 Monday afternoon to the area of East Gospel Grove Avenue in Eastern Vigo County to help find a missing child.
Officers say used several agencies used multiple tools including K9’s, and aerial vehicles with infrared detection to help to find the child.
Police say that they around 7pm they were notified by residents in the area that the child who was said to be highly functioning autistic, was seen near his home and appeared to be trying to avoid detection.
Eventually the child was located at the Trail Head at US 40 & Chamberlain St. around 8:20p.m.
Police interviewed the child and were able to confirm the child had intentionally eluded search efforts throughout the day.
Police are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this event.
