VIGO COUNTY, Ind – The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office has received a report of a phone scam where the caller identifies himself as Sgt. Scott Stokes from the “sheriff’s office”.

The caller will then tell you that you have missed jury duty and wants you to go and get green money pack cards from Kroger and them deliver them to the sheriff’s lobby in order to pay a fine for missing jury duty.

The call originated from 812-221-3769 from the city of Lawrenceburg Indiana.

The public is encouraged to verify all such calls with local law enforcement and recognize law enforcement agencies never ask for money over the phone.
