VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly was in southern Vigo County Monday afternoon to talk with area farmers about their concerns and the about the looming trade war.
Donnelly said that he told the president that he was ready to work with him to resolve trade issues quickly.
Donnelly said that he wants the trade problems to be resolved so that commodity prices can go back up and we can preserve or markets.
Donnelly said that he was in town to address the concerns of farmers and didn’t take the bate when one reporter asked if the tariff controversy was enough to get voters to vote for him as a democrat in the fall..
Donnelly said that the two different farm bills in the Senate and the House will likely get worked out in short order and that the major differences was with the SNAP nutrition programs.
The Senator was hosted by the Indiana Soybean Alliance and the Indiana Corn Growers Association.
