TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Terre Haute city council has unanimously approved changes to so called “dance ordinance”.
The first change is now it will be known as a special event ordinance.
The city council voted in favor of the changes last night that lowers the liability insurance requirement to a one-million-dollar policy instead of five million dollars and it now outlines an appeal process if you are turned down for a permit. The council also changed to ordinance so that you only must apply once for a reoccurring event.
The ordinance came about after several parties that were hosted in town where individuals had an event, charged admission and then the police had to be called in when things got out of hand and at some events, gun shots were fire.
