VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. – The Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department says that a hostage situation has ended peacefully early Sunday morning in Universal.

Police say that Robert Bealmear was holding two of his grandparent’s hostage when he fired off two shots in their home.

The mans grand parents were able to sneak out when Bealmear asked for a drink in the kitchen.

Bealmear was arrested when he stepped outside to smoke.

Bealmear faces preliminary charges of criminal recklessness, criminal confinement, and breaking and entering.
