Vigo Schools To Start “Junior Crimestoppers” Program

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – The Vigo County School Corporation, in conjunction with the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department will provide a new service to the  school community beginning next Monday, (10-29-18) called “Junior Crimestoppers.”

This program was modeled after the Crimestoppers program with the intention of allowing the school community to send tips to a hotline concerning a multitude of issues, such as bullying, harassment, threats or concerns about the mental health of a student.

The hotline will be open 24/7 and will be monitored by the VCSC Administration and personnel from the Vigo County Sherriff’s Department.

Governor Holcomb recently released a number of recommendations concerning school safety, and among them, was the idea of having a method for the community to anonymously report concerns related to school safety. School officials say that they are excited to offer another way for the school community to share their concerns with administrators and law enforcement.
