Republican businessman Mike Braun has BEATEN Indiana Sen. Joe Donnelly in a race in which both candidates portrayed themselves as fans of President Donald Trump. Donnelly unexpectedly won in 2012 after Republican nominee Richard Mourdock made incendiary comments about abortion and rape.
Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson, Auditor Tera Klutz and Treasurer Kelly Mitchell all have won re-election. The three Republican statewide officeholders all won comfortably Tuesday.
Democrat J.B. Pritzker capitalized on Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner’s unpopularity and disfavor with GOP President Donald Trump to be elected Illinois governor and lead an overwhelmingly victorious ticket in Tuesday’s election. The 53-year-old billionaire heir to the Hyatt Hotel fortune declared, “We make no small plans.”
