West Lafayette, Ind – The finals of the Indiana Academic Spell Bowl senior division took place at Purdue University this past weekend, and South Vigo finished in the top spot by out spelling 14 other teams in Class 1, with Penn the runner-up and Fishers High School taking third place.

South Vigo had 87 out of a maximum possible 90 points, Penn had 83 points.

Riverton Parke Junior/Senior High School also took first place in Class 4.

Members of the 2018 Terre Haute South Vigo High School Academic Spell Bowl team are: Emma John, senior; Camille Mendoza, senior; Nikki Singh, senior and team captain; Jason Feng, junior; Sara Hoggatt, junior; Priscilla Liu, junior; Henry Stofferahn, junior; Ishreet Lehal, sophomore; Gwynneth Menzie, sophomore; Ananya Gera, freshman.

Alternates were Diana Ikanovic; Azriel Manalaysay; Sairene Martin; Amelia McFarland; Madison Morgan; Amelia Pomfret; Cheyenne Stewart.

At Riverton Parke, team members this year were Britany App, Macy Johnson, Lindsey Peterson, Mackenzie Schermann, Kirby Martin, Caitlin Woods, T.J. Rutan, David LeClerq, Emilee Hartzler and Addie Moeller. Moeller was unable to attend Saturday.
