BRAZIL, Ind – The former Brazil Junior High School celebrated its grand opening as the Davis-Zeller Place on Friday.

The three story building at the corner of Washington and Kruzan streets has been through three years of work by New Hope Services of Jeffersonville.

There are 48 units in one and two-bedroom configurations.

Half of those have been leased as living space.

In addition to the old junior high school, where the ribbon cutting was held, the former Davis Building on the corner of National Avenue and Meridian Street is owned by New Hope Services and is also leasing apartments.

Both will serve as New Hope’s newest senior living offerings to go along with a half-dozen low-income duplexes they built on formerly blighted properties around Brazil.

Tax credits helped to make the project economically feasible.
