SULLIVAN, Ind – The Sullivan City Council voted this week to not go through with a previously approved sewer rate increase.
The council voted in December of 2017 to increase sewer rates in two stages to fund projects mandated by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
The first increase went into effect in January this year with phase two set for January 2019.
IN August the city was granted $700,000 by the Office of Community and Rural Affairs to help with the upgrade to the city’s treatment plant and collection system.
With that grant, the planed rate hike for next year can now be avoided.
