VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Monday afternoon around 12:30 Vermillion County 911 received reports of a reckless driver southbound SR 63 from the Newport area. Reports stated the vehicle was crossing the center line nearly striking other vehicles.
Deputies located the vehicle and after observing the car cross the center line multiple times, stopped the vehicle.
After several failed field sobriety tests police took 21-year-old Paul K. Baxendale IV of Clinton. He was taken to Union Hospital in Clinton after alcohol was ruled out.
After lab work Baxendale was arrested on charges of Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance.
During the arrest a foil package containing suspected Heroin and Fentanyl, 2 syringes, and other paraphernalia was in Baxendale’s possession.
