BRAZIL, Ind.  – Brazil’s Assistant Police Chief Dennis Archer was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly driving drunk.

Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Matt Ames says that a Trooper pulled Archer over on US 40 near West Street in Brazil after 1:00 a.m. Saturday.

The Trooper made the traffic stop due to an unsafe lane move.

State Police say that Archer was driving his own personal vehicle and had a blood alcohol content of .09 percent.

The legal limit is .08 percent.

We spoke with Brazil Police Chief Clint McQueen Saturday afternoon. He told us that he is aware of what happened but had not had a chance to read a report from Indiana State Police. He did say that Archer was not on duty at the time and confirmed that he was not driving a city vehicle.

He had no further comment and would not say what Archer’s status is with the department at this time.
