TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – There is a need for CASA volunteers in Vigo County.
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates.
Volunteers look out for and represent the interests of children.
As of Friday, CASA says the county has 539 assigned cases but only has 51 active volunteers.
Some of those volunteers have as many as four cases.
Currently there are 141 kids on the waiting list for a volunteer.
The group offers training online and in person every month.
