WABASH VALLEY – With extreme heat predicted for the Wabash Valley through the rest of the week there are several cooling centers now open to help those in need.

 

Vigo County

• Salvation Army – Bottled water is available in the social service entrance for people need.
• Vigo County Public Library – the main and west branches of the library welcomes people during regular business hours to cool down
• Woodrow Wilson auxiliary gym – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday noon to 6:00 p.m. (if you need a ride, tell a Terre Haute Transit bus driver and they will take you to the Meadows Shopping Center, across from Woodrow Wilson)
• Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church – Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Sullivan County

• Word of Life Church at 502 North Court Street in Sullivan – Open to everyone on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Greene County

• The North Shelter House at the Bloomfield Park – Open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
• The Bloomfield Community Building – Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
• Linton First Baptist Church – Thursday, Friday, Saturday 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Edgar County

• Brocton City Hall
• Human Resource Center of Paris Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
• Paris Senior Center – 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday
• Pleasant Meadows in Chrisman – 24/7
• Hume Community Center – As needed, call 217-251-6453
• Kansas Christian Church – Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Paris Fire Training Center as needed – call Edgar County Sheriff’s Office at 217-465-4166
