INDIANAPOLIS — Probationary Indiana State Police troopers took another step toward becoming permanent members of the police force, Tuesday.
The probationary officers, who are members of the 79th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy class, received their police cars, also known as “commissions.”
They have completed three months of field training with veteran troopers and five months of law enforcement training at the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy.
Now, they will be out on solo patrol, assigned to the various districts across Indiana.
After a one year probationary period, the troopers become permanent members of the Indiana State Police.
Daniel VanDuyn is a native of Terre Haute, Indiana and a graduate of Terre Haute North High School. VanDuyn spent four years furthering his education at Ivy Tech of Terre Haute. Probationary Trooper VanDuyn and his wife, Danielle, have two children and reside in Vigo County. His primary counties will be Vigo and Sullivan.
Athan Lamson is from Odon, Indiana, is a homeschool graduate, and currently resides in Clay County. Probationary Trooper Lamson is very excited about being assigned to the Putnamville Post and is ready to accept the challenges that come his way. His primary counties will be Clay and Putnam.
