TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – The search continues for a man who led police on a chase that started around 11:30 Tuesday night.

West Terre Haute police attempted to stop a driver they suspected of being under the influence.

Officers were checking the driver’s license when he drove off.

Stop sticks flattened the tires on the pick-up truck at 1st and Ohio Streets.

The suspect then shot at police.

Eventually the driver abandoned the truck after crashing into the Deming Park gate on the city’s east side.

The suspect fled on foot but managed to evade police who used helicopters and drones to try and locate the suspect.

At around 4:00 a.m. police determined the suspect was not in the park.
