Clay City — An unidentified farmer became trapped chest-deep in a grain bin containing soybeans northwest of Clay City in the area of County Road 600 South and County Road 535 West on Wednesday afternoon.
The farmer was in no immediate danger due to the depth of the remaining soybeans in the bin when rescue personnel arrived on the scene. He was unable to free himself due to compaction of the grain around him, stated a release from Clay County Chief Deputy Eric Oberholtzer. He was freed around 1:45 p.m.
Agencies responding included the sheriff’s department, Clay City Volunteer Fire Department, Cory Volunteer Fire Department Lewis Volunteer Fire Department, STAR Ambulance and Indiana State Police.
