TERRE HAUTE, Indiana (DLC Media) – The budget for the city of Terre Haute has been released for 2024. The proposed budget from Mayor Duke Bennett would involve a 4.9% increase from the 2023 budget.

Mayor Bennett says that this increase is due to the inflation of costs rather than the addition of any extra responsibilities that the city needs to pay for. Along with a budget increase, city employees will be given a 3% pay raise.

Mayor Bennet hopes that the Terre Haute Casino will not just be used as a way to plug holes caused by the budget instead, the money will be used for the quality of life initiative.
