West Terre Haute, In. – Tuesday afternoon the Vigo County School Corporation released more information concerning the Monday afternoon crash involving a school bus on Bennett Lane north of West Terre Haute. According to the information released by the school corporation the bus driver passed out and the bus veered off the road and into a utility pole bringing down power lines on the bus. Duke Energy crews were called in to remove the line from the bus which resulted in a short power outage in the area. Four students and the driver of the bus was transported to the hospital. The driver spent the night and was released Tuesday. The bus remained at the scene of the crash so Duke Energy could finish removing the downed power lines and the Indiana State Police could inspect it. The school corporation also is calling in a representative of the bus manufacturer to inspect the bus which is standard in cases of bus crashes.
