Stepmother Charged With Neglect In 5 Year Old’s Drowning In The Wabash

Vincennes, In. – Thursday afternoon a 5-year-old went missing in Kimmel Park in Vincennes.  Later that evening the child’s body was found in the Wabash just south of the boat ramp.  The investigation into the drowning has resulted in the child’s Stepmother 26-year-old Deonna Postin-Hollingsworth being charged with neglect of a dependent. Postin-Hollingsworth told investigators that they had intended to get in the water and wade around near the boat ramp and that the five-year-old had told her she could swim. Hollingsworth said she then lost sight of the girl. During conversation with Postin-Hollingsworth DNR officer witnessed her vomiting, she smelled of alcohol and her story varied several times, and she was displaying erratic behaviors. Postin-Hollingsworth’s blood alcohol content was.199%, the legal limit in Indiana is .08%.
