Super Cell Storm Hits Wabash Valley

Vigo County, In. – Yesterday what the National Weather Service is calling an extreme Super Cell storm rolled into the Wabash valley bringing extremely high winds, heavy rain and hail and causing widespread damage to the area.  Most of the damage was to trees closing streets and roads and falling on power lines that knocked out power to thousands of Vigo County homes and businesses.  Most of the damage was in the western and southern part of Vigo County. Duke energy reports at one time they had 21 circuits down affecting 21,000 customers in Vigo County.  There are still many customers without power today. Duke Energy has called in crews from Kentucky to help restore power in the area.  They should arrive today.
