Vigo County, In. – The Vigo County Commissioners met individually Monday with representatives of Wabash Valley Resources to discuss the proposed agreement with the county. The agreement document is available for the public to view with this story on our Facebook or webpage. The Commissioners urge the citizens of the county to review this document. The company’s proposed benefits package has been revised since an earlier draft. WVR’s offered fund has grown from an initial $1 million to $3 million currently. In an email Gregory Zoeller, WVR’s vice president of external affairs, clarified a couple of points: “The funding commitment is the same $3 million for each county,” referring to $3 million each for both Vigo and Vermillion — likewise, the price tag for promised road upgrades is up to $5 million per county. Last year Senate Bill 451 authorized Wabash Valley Resources allowing carbon sequestration in West Terre Haute and Vermillion Counties. After this bill was passed citizens of the community have expressed outrage and anger the Wabash Valley Resources will be allowed to continue with this project.
