Coroner Rules Homicide In Edgar County Crash

Edgar County, Il. – In March of this year 70-year-old James Lutz of Chrisman, Illinois was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Route 1 in Edgar County.  At the time the report from the Edgar County Coroner, Scott Barrett, said the collision was a head on crash between 2 trucks one driven by Lutz and the other by 38-year-old Melissa Edwards, of Marshall who was injured in the accident.  Wednesday the coroner said the results of toxicology reports came back showing that Edwards was under the influence of Methamphetamine and Ketamine when the accident happened.  The case has been sent to the State’s Attorney’s Office to determine criminal charges.
