Terre Haute, In. – The Environmental Protection Agency will be removing the asbestos debris from the old Columbian Enameling site on Beech Street. Wednesday the EPA said they estimate it will take around a year to clean it all up. The EPA will remove debris from the building and move it to an approved landfill. Water will be sprayed on the debris to keep the dust down and they will monitor the air quality during the cleanup. Mayor Sakbun says the city is ecstatic and blessed that the EPA will be cleaning up the site. He thanks the IDEM, EPA and our federal officials and local engineering team for getting the EPA to clean the site.
