
Wabash Valley –Several inches of snow blankets the Wabash Valley this morning and we remain under a Winter Storm Warning until 7pM. The winter Storm that was predicted by forecasters many days in advance moved into the Wabash Valley Sunday morning with snow beginning in some areas just before sunrise. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security State Emergency Operations Center in Indianapolis was activated Sunday morning to coordinate the state’s response to the winter storm. The Indiana National Guard announced it had been activated by the Governor in response to the winter storm warning across the state. Snowplows have been out since the snow began to fall. Local officials urge everyone to take extra precautions while driving. I-70 In Clark County Illinois was closed last night at exit 119 in both directions with up to 40 accident occurring. Officials in Vigo County declared a winter storm travel watch in effect until noon today. A travel watch means, ” that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a “watch” local travel advisory, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations. Many other counties in the area have issued similar watches.
