INDIANAPOLIS – Get ready for single-digit temperatures and more snow this week. Forecasters say snow will move in Tuesday, with the heaviest accumulation expected in Southern Indiana.

“We are in this pattern now where we’re getting repeated pushes of arctic air, so this is kind of the aftermath of the system that we had to go through yesterday, and we are expecting another wintry system Tuesday night into Wednesday morning,” said Andrew White with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

Southern Indiana could see 2-3 inches of snow, with snow showers and flurries locally. Forecasters are also warning people to bundle up, as exposed skin could risk frostbite.

“Exposed skin within a half hour to an hour will start to see issues,” White said. “The main thing you are looking for with that is starting to see discoloration or loss of feeling in your limbs. It typically starts in your fingertips first.”

White says to expect single-digit temperatures and subzero wind chills through Friday, but a warm-up is coming this weekend, with highs possibly reaching the 40s and 50s.
