West Terre Haute, In. – During a public forum to discuss a facility study held at West Vigo High School Monday evening Superintendent Chris Himsel said School consolidation can’t be ruled out as the Vigo County School Board considers options for the future of facilities.  During the forum officials discussed three ways to update and maintain the schools. One would be to replace the schools which will cost around $1.5 billion. Second, would be to renovate and modernize the schools, which would cost around $850 million. And third, the possible consolidation of schools. Himsel went on to say, “We’re looking at facilities that were built in the 1960s and 1970s,” she said. Many changes have taken place in technology and society, and facilities have not kept pace.” Two more public forums are scheduled on Marsch 25th.  One at 5:30 at North High School and another at 7:30at South High School.
