Indianapolis, In. – A State Law that was passed in 2023 requires School Boards and local governing bodies to live stream their meetings. State-supported colleges or universities are excluded. The law went into effect last July. State officials say not everyone is able to attend a meeting, so live streaming is important. The Indiana School Boards Association recently provided a reminder about the mandate, although many school districts already live stream; some began during the COVID pandemic. Only school boards with elected members are required to live stream their meetings. In addition, a school board must post archived copies of its live streamed meetings and links to the agenda and memoranda/minutes of those meetings on a publicly accessible platform. In this area the Vigo County School Corp., meetings can be viewed on the VCSC YouTube channel. North Central Parke Community Schools have been streamed for years now. They are planning on investing in updated equipment soon. Clay Community Schools does not yet live stream its board meetings, but they are preparing to set up live streaming soon.
