Terre Haute, In – The Indiana Department of Transportation held a public meeting Tuesday evening to present the proposed changes to the U.S. 41/Dixie Bee Road intersection which runs between the rear of Walgreens and the entrance to Chick-fil-A and the Wabash Valley Dragway. INDOT began to study the intersect due to the high volume of traffic and the number of accidents. There have been 148 accidents in that area between 2018 and 2024. The changes include a slotted left turn lane on northbound U.S. 41 which will restrict crossing movements between Dixie Bee and Towne South Plaza, restrict left turns from Dixie Bee onto northbound U.S. 41, and left turns from southbound U.S. 41 to Towne South Plaza. INDOT says construction could begin in 2026.
