Indianapolis, In. – Indiana Attorney General, Todd Rokita has issued a warning to local Indiana City leaders to rescind any sanctuary city laws immediately.  Sanctuary cities are local governments with policies to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation or prosecution, despite federal immigration law. “We welcome want-to-be-patriots to the United States who will add value to our country and want to live their lives under the values this country was founded upon,” Attorney General Rokita said. “The first way they can show that is by following our laws. Those who do not follow our laws by entering our country illegally should not be allowed to stay.” This comes after the recent passage of a law allowing the attorney general to file lawsuits against Indiana colleges, universities, and local governments that do not adhere to the state ban on sanctuary cities.
