INDIANAPOLIS – Joey Chestnut may be watching this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Competition from his home in Westfield.
The New York Post reported an issue with an endorsement deal signed by Chestnut is why Major League Eating doesn’t want him participating in their annual 4th of July eating competition.
Joey Chestnut recently signed a deal with Impossible Foods, a vegan food company that recently announced a vegan hot dog made from plants.
Impossible is a rival of the company who puts on the hot dog eating contest, which is what lead MLE to dish out the ban.
Reports suggest Chestnut’s new endorsement deal will make him $1.2 million over four years. The New York Post says Chestnut was paid $200,000 for his appearance at last year’s contest.
He has won the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest every year since 2016.
