Vigo County, In. – Wednesday morning an Indiana State Trooper observed a car going 70 in a 55 MPH zone on U.S. 41 at Head Road. The trooper activated his lights and siren and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the vehicle sped off with the trooper in pursuit hitting speeds of 140 MPH during the chase. At one point during the chase the driver went off road in the river bottoms then getting back on U.S. 41 near Evans Drive. After seeing another State Trooper and Sheriff Deputy the driver pulled off into a parking lot and surrendered. The driver was identified as 38-year-old Marc Welsh. Police said Welsh appeared to be impaired. Welsh was arrested and charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Criminal Recklessness with a Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated (prior) and Reckless Driving.
