Greene County, In. – Last week in Greene County a Co-worker of Samantha Jerrell contacted police concerning her not showing up for work.  As police investigated, they found that Jerell’s 14-year-old son hadn’t been showing up for school. The investigation led police to search for 25-year-old Joshua Pennick the biological father of Jerrell’s son. Pennick’s father told police that his son told him he had killed Jerrell and her son and buried them at the Bear Run Coal mine in Sullivan County.  Police using cadaver dog searched the mine area and found the bodies of Samantha Jerrell and her son. Pennick was located in Warren County.  He was arrested and charged with murder, obstruction of justice, battery resulting in serious bodily injury and neglect of a dependent causing death.  At the time of his arrest Pennick was awaiting trial for previous charges of possession of marijuana, and six counts of sexual misconduct with a minor after allegedly having a relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
