Green County, In. – In his first court appearance 35-year-old Joshua Pinnick appeared before a Green County judge via video conference. Pinnick is accused of killing Samatha Jerrell and their son Colton then burying them near the Bear Run Mine in Sullivan County. Several of Jerrells family members were in court as Pennick’s lawyer waived a reading of the probable cause affidavit and the charges against him. The charges are Four Counts of Obstruction of Justice, One Count of Battery, One Count of Resisting Law Enforcement, One Count of False Informing and Two Counts of Murder. Pennick entered a preliminary non-guilty plea. The probable cause affidavit states that Penick confessed to the two murders to his father. Allegedly saying quote “I I just put my hand around her neck and didn’t let go.” On October 21st the State of Indiana requested life without parole. Pennick is due back in court in January.
