Terre Haute, In. – A press release from the United States Bureau of Prisons said that an inmate, 54-year-old Charles Lee Smoot died after being assaulted in the U.S. Penitentiary at Terre Haute Monday night.  Prison staff-initiated life-saving measures but Smoot was pronounced dead by EMS Personnel.  Another individual was treated for minor injuries in the assault.
