Clay County, In. – Residents of the Wabash Valley were awakened by a line of thunderstorms that moved through the area Friday night into Saturday morning. Most of the valley experienced rain and thunder but some high winds blew through Clay County causing damage from downed trees and power outages that lasted into the day Saturday. The National Weather Service said it was straight line winds up to 70 mph and not a tornado that caused the damage. Duke Energy’s Rick Burger said that many lines were down along with broken poles. Duke called in outside contractors to clear the downed trees so repairs could be made.
