Brazil, In. – Around 4:30 Wednesday morning a driver swerved to avoid an animal on North Hendrix Street on Brazil’s Northeast side.  This caused the car to hit a utility pole, breaking it off causing a power outage in the area.  Duke Energy’s Rick Burger said that the outage affected the hospital for a short time, until they switched to their backup generator. Duke crews worked until Wednesday afternoon to replace the pole and repair the downed lines to restore power in the area.
