Former ISU Student Pleads Guilty To Voluntary Manslaughter

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – A former Indiana State University student pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter on Thursday in Vigo Superior Court.

As part of the plea deal, a murder charge against 22 year old Tristin Spencer was dropped.

Spencer faces up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced on August 15th.

The charges are related to a shooting last November at International Village Apartments.

Spencer admitted that while he was walking his dog and got in to a confrontation with 42 year old Robert Archer.

He went home, dropped off his dog, returned to the area with a fire arm and shot Archer when he approached him aggressively.
