CLINTON, Ind – Vermillion County Police were investigating a domestic complaint in the 900 block of South 9th Street in Clinton this week when they learned that suspects had fled into a nearby woods with items that may have been stolen from a business in North Terre Haute.
Police found a full box of merchandise in the residence with the address of Kadel’s Hallmark in North Terre Haute on the box.
Officers and Indiana State Police K-9 Zeke found from the same store in the woods including cases of un-opened Limited Edition 2018 Christmas Items.
Police later located and arrested 35-year-old Hugh B. Carpenter II of Clinton on felony charges of Possession of Stolen Items.
Carpenter is being held in the Vermillion County Jail on $10,000.00 bond.
The owner of the store was unaware that the items that were worth over $3,000 had been stolen from a storage container behind the store.
