VIGO COUNTY, Ind – A new trial date was set in court Thursday for a Terre Haute man accused of murder.

56 year old Kenneth Pitts Jr allegedly killed 77-year-old Alice “Anita” Oswald in November 2017.

Her body was recovered in her SUV which was found in an eastern Vigo County lake in January 2018.

An autopsy showed Oswald died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Pitts was arrested in May 2018 at a campground in Nevada.

Police believe that Pitts tried to rob Oswald’s house, she caught him and shot him. He then allegedly beat her to death.

In court a pretrial hearing is set for July 25 and his trial date is scheduled for September 30th.
