TERRE HAUTE, Ind – The annual Indiana Regional Middle School Science Bowl will be held this weekend at Indiana State University in Root Hall.

The event is a qualifier for the national Department of Energy Science Bowl, with the finals held April 25-29 in Washington, D.C.

Schools competing this year include area schools — Sarah Scott, Otter Creek, Woodrow Wilson, Saint Patrick, Honey Creek – and schools from out of town – Carmel (Creekside Middle School), Indianapolis (Sycamore School), Ann Arbor MI (Greenhills School), Bloomfield Hills MI (Cranbrook School) and Mason Ohio (Mason Intermediate Elementary School).

Teams of four to five students compete by answering science and math questions in a quiz bowl format.  The winning team is invited to an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., for the finals. Creekside was the winning team last year.

ISU faculty and student volunteers run the contest and is supported by the College of Arts and Sciences.
