PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind – Early Saturday morning Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a fatal single vehicle crash on county road 1000 South just east of Cloverdale.

The driver of the vehicle lost control and it rolled several times striking a telephone pole in the process.

The vehicle then caught on fire.

Emergency responders extricated the two people in the car and worked hard to save the driver, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

The passenger was critically injured and taken to the hospital.
