JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — A trial is set to begin this week for a southern Indiana man accused of murdering and cannibalizing his ex-girlfriend. Joseph Oberhansley is charged in the killing of Tammy Jo Blanton in her Jeffersonville home five years ago.
Investigators say Oberhansley raped Blanton, stabbed her to death and then ate her organs.
As part of a deal with prosecutors, Oberhansley withdrew an insanity defense in return for not facing a possible death sentence.
Jury selection begins today in Hamilton County. The trial is scheduled to start Wednesday in Jeffersonville.
