TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – A Terre Haute mother has been sentenced to 12 years in prison and four years probation for her part in her own son’s death.

39 year old Tabetha Smith was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to a charge of felony charge of neglect leading to serious bodily injury.

Smith removed her three month old sons feeding tube against doctors’ orders at least five days before her son died of severe dehydration on March 12, 2018.

Smith will also receive credit for time served.
