VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Just before 5:00 p.m. Thursday (4/9/20) afternoon Vermillion County Deputies were patrolling in the area of State Road 71 and Broadway Street in St. Bernice when they spotted a white passenger car traveling north on State Road 71 at 72 miles per hour.
When the deputies turned around to stop the car, the driver accelerated, and attempted to evade officers.
Officers chased the car for several miles.
During the pursuit, the car’s rear tire blew out, but the pursuit continued through St. Bernice at speeds near 100 miles per hour.
Eventually the driver lost control and wrecked into a heavily wooded area.
42-year-old Jesse Jackson of St. Bernice was arrested without incident.
Jackson showed signs of impairment and refused sobriety and chemical testing.
Specimens were obtained by court order and results showed that Jackson had a BAL of .14% and he tested positive for methamphetamine, cannabinoids, and antidepressants.
He was arrested on several charges and is still being held on $10,000 bond and no 10% allowed.
