HENDRICKS COUNTY — A crash Wednesday evening between two vintage vehicles resulted in the death of one person.

A 1930s model A Ford was headed up County Road 500 East near Brownsburg when it was hit by a 1977 John Deere tractor. The driver of the tractor, a 68-year-old man from Pittsboro, had been heading down the road when he started turning onto County Road 800 North, in front of the Ford.

As he turned, he hit the driver’s side of the classic Ford. When first responders arrived, they were able to take the Ford driver — a 31-year-old Pittsboro man — and his rear passenger — a 26-year-old woman from Greencastle — to a hospital in Indianapolis. 63-year-old Pittsboro woman, Amy Knapp, was in the front seat. She died at the scene. The tractor driver was not hurt.

The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office says this was caused by a failure to follow the right of way. They do not believe alcohol was involved.
