Bloomington Man Shoots Suspect Who Enters Home

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Police in Bloomington are investigating a shooting that happened Thursday morning.

At 5:10 a.m. Thursday, Monroe County dispacth got a call from a 35-year-old man saying someone was breaking into his home. The house was located on South Pinestown Court, less than a mile west of Bloomington South High School.

While police were on the way to the house, he claimed the suspect had broken his bedroom window and was trying to climb inside. The caller said that’s when he shot the suspect from inside his house. The suspect ran away after he was shot, said Bloomington Police.

When officers got the the home they said there was a broken window and several bullet hols from shots that were fired inside the home.

10 minutes after the first 911 call, someone else called dispatch claiming they’d been shot and the were in Switchyard Park. That park is a just over a mile away from the first callers home.

Police found the caller who was a 39-year-old man, and determined he was the man that had been shot inside the home.

Police haven’t said who the men were, but they did say they knew each other before the shooting.
