Brazil – Josh Clarke, who is administering the new police force for Clay Community Schools has been working hard to get the program running, said Superintendent Jeff Fritz at Thursday’s meeting of the Board of Trustees.

After the meeting, Clarke said he plans to hire experienced officers from city, county and state agencies. He said more people have applied than he may have the ability to hire.

“That’s a good problem,” Clarke said.

The school officers will focus on helping students rather than punishment.

The officers will be paid a rate that is competitive with existing police agencies in this area.

Superintendent Fritz said school officers may be hired in the February or March meeting of the Clay Community Schools Board of Trustees.
